It started when traveling, this little girl found it hard to sleep in the car seat and in other unfamiliar surroundings. So her Mummy remembered in her cot at home, there is a 'lampin' cloth where her head rests, so Mummy gave the little girl a piece of 'lampin' to hold, and sure enough the little girl was soothed to sleep.
After that trip, due to crankiness from her tiredness and stranger anxiety, the little girl was given the a hanky as her babysitter said "lampin so big piece!'.
Since then, the little girl has loved her hanky. She likes to twirl it, wave it, sniff it, grasp it before she goes to sleep, and when she drinks her milk. These are the only times she is allowed her comfort hanky.
When the little girl is naughty and doesn't want to nap, guess what she does with her hanky? She throws it out of the cot.
Her Mummy had no idea how comforting the hanky was to the little girl, until once when the little girl fell down and cried, she stopped crying when given her hanky o_o
Fortunately the little girl is not attached to any particular hanky, though she does have her favorites. This ensures Mummy can change and wash her hankies daily.
Sometimes when the little girl wakes up in the pitch black night and can't find her hanky, she would wail. So, her Mummy now puts 2 pieces of hankies into the cot at night :P
Here is the little girl with her hanky.
