My Little girl

She just went for checkup just now in the morning and here are her stats:
1. Weight = 6.4kg (no wonder mummy cant carry her on one hand now)
2. Length = 64cm (the last checkup was 64cm also...) that means either the measurement was wrong or she didnt grow in length

then both me and audrey was so 心痛 after her jab... there were some blood coming out at her thigh where the jab was... :(

pray that she'll be all right today... believing that God answering our prayer that NO fever and illness to come upon her. :)

Things that happen when one grows bigger

I have graduated from my bouncer net. Not only are my arms and legs always hitting the edges, the net can no longer support my weight, my bottom is touching the floor!

This was me at 7 weeks old.

Mummy put me in the bouncer for one last time this week for a last photo shoot, before it is packed up and returned to gu gu.

Some other things that I outgrew: - my pacifiers (all 6 of them), I stopped using them in my 3rd month. Also all my booties. I now wear socks.

Remember my Daddy telling you all that I can now flip from tummy to back? Well, I enjoy doing it so much that I do it all the time, even at night in my sleep. The only problem is I don't know how to turn from back to tummy yet. And I was not used to sleeping on my back. So for the past week, Daddy and Mummy had to wake up in the night to put me back on my tummy, after I flipped and could not continue sleeping. Well, I'm a fast learner, by yesterday night, I learnt to sleep on my back, and finally I could sleep through the night again.

This is what I do when I flip to my back in the middle of the night:

I can hold my bottle... still working on better control though.

Daddy assembled my high chair so now I can join Daddy & Mummy at the dining table... I'm waiting for the day when I can eat :)

Tuesday: What a day!

On Tuesday:

I was home sick with running nose and sore throat.

My laptop had a meltdown, literally.
The screen went black and I could not power up. There was a burnt plastic smell and the whole laptop was hot.

My Avent breastpump broke down.
I had to try many times before I could power up the pump due to contact issues. Sometimes I would spend 5 minutes just to turn on the pump. But on this day, the motor went crazy. The suction slowed down, and there was no suction strength before it died halfway in use.

What a day.

But somewhere in my heart, I had peace. I told hubby, maybe God allowed all this to happen so that I can have a breakthrough and emerge in an even better situation.

Well, on Wednesday:

I went back to work.

I got my laptop replaced. Thank God my hard disk was fully intact.

I went to the Avent distributor to report my problem. In 15 minutes I walked out with brand new pump as replacement... for FREE! Yahoooo.... no more need to spend 5 minutes just to turn on the pump :)

Isn't God taking care of me well? :)

only in Malaysia...

you know in Malaysia money is NOT everything??? Even if you have enough money to purchase the things that you want, the seller would just ignore you and not letting you buy? Give you some examples that i faced and i heard... :P

1. My project need to test on handphone and Malaysia happens to have that model in the market. So i went nicely to the shop and ask for the price and blah blah blah... so after everything is done, i asked them whether i can use a oversea credit card (as i'm helping my counterpart to buy and ship back to his country for business purpose) , they say CANNOT... becoz the credit card system is NOT wired up to accept oversea credit card??!??!?!? this is the first joke.... ok fine, i asked my colleague to exchange some cash at the hotel and come back again to purchase it the next day. You know that happend the next day? He cant buy that model becoz it has to be signed up with our local service provider. We did ask him about the price if we just want the handphone and we willing to pay extra for that... so... this is another joke... you got the cash and money... but no product to sell to you...

2. I heard from my colleague that her friend went to kids' department and tried out a shirt for herself as her size is small. Guess what the sale girl tell her after knowing that she wants that shirt... you cannot buy as it's meant for kids only....

3. Try going tot Pizza hut and order the kids' meal... guess what they'll tell you.... "No, you cant order this, as this is meant for kids only". What if i'm not that hungry and just want to eat small portion? Why Mc-D and KFC dont even bother whether the adult buying it or the kids buying it and Pizza hut making a big fuzz over it??

here you go... 3 classic example to show you that you have money?? so what?? welcome to Malaysia... :D

What's new?

With me around, something new is always happening :)

I learnt a new skill this weekend - blowing out my saliva 'phhhtttt' through closed lips. This ability is a new discovery for me and I practised it all the time, even when I am crying. Practise makes perfect, they say.

Check out my rotating skill. In 5 mins I transformed from being asleep head on 'lampin' to waking up and moving 180deg. Practising to crawl mah.

At Sunshine Baby Essentials Sale a few weeks ago, Mummy and Daddy got me some cute clothes. See me in my Baby Kiko dress which cost Daddy RM12 only... looks like I will grow out of it soon though!

Mummy's colleagues have recommended her to read me Eric Carle's books. M&D have checked out the books at MPH & Borders, but found very limited selection at very expensive prices (RM30-90 per book). So Mummy went back to her favorite store, eBay, and look what she got for me, 15 Eric Carle used books in good condition for RM150. Mummy figures this is an investment. All the books are board books, pages made out of cardboard material which I can enjoy reading (not tearing out or chewing up).

The biggest new thing to happen is this:
A 'new' rented fridge. To store my milk. Mummy's freezer is all full, and so was Uncle YS/Aunty Cmei's freezer and Aunty Hooi Chong's. Thanks to Mummy's colleague, Mummy got the contact to a appliance repair shop in Ayer Itam which also rents out 2nd hand appliance. The rent is RM165 for 3 months including transportation. M&D did not want to buy the fridge as they plan to use it only for awhile, after all I'm going to start solids in another 6 weeks! :)

Am I Going Bald?

4 weeks after delivering Shanna, I noticed increased hair loss. Washing my hair produced clumps of fallen hair at the drainage area, combing my hair left strands of hair on my clothes, and my hair was all over the house.

4 months postpartum, I'm still losing my hair! All through life I never had the opportunity to have the layered-light-hair-look... until now. Even with the hairdresser's help, in just weeks I would regain the thick-big-hair look. Well, I might as well make the most out of the situation and enjoy this new 'style' :)

I sure hope this condition does not persist much longer though. Else I may have another entirely new 'style' called 'no-hair-look'.

Google gave me assurance that this is temporary: http://www.pregnancy.org/article/post-partum-hair-loss-am-i-going-bald

Shanna's achievement

our bb girl manage to turn from her tummy position to her back since yesterday by her own will. Tough previously she manage to turn accidentally for at least 3 times, yesterday and the day before she manage to turn with her own will.

We are so happy to see her turning and having fun at the same time. Now we are teaching her to turn from back to tummy position. Will that make her dizzy after that? :D

What makes the difference?

Nap time at 2.00pm (at babysitter's)
1. Babysitter puts Shanna tummy-down on the mattress
2. Goes out of the room to get something
3. Comes back in to find Shanna asleep

Nap time at 7.00pm (at home)
1. Mummy soothes Shanna, puts her down on the mattress and tells her it is time for her nap.
2. Turns Shanna over to her tummy.
3. Mummy starts to pat Shanna.
4. Shanna starts to cry (very loudly)
5. Continues to cry (face all red, tears are coming out)
6. In her attempts to get up, rolls over to her back
7. Mummy tells her 'go to sleep, Shanna', turns her back on her tummy
8. Shanna doesn't stop crying
9. Rolls over to her back again
10. Repeat 7-9 another time
11. Finally Shanna's hands move to her sides, cries less
12. Cries subsides
13. Falls alseep finally!

Bedtime at 9.30pm
1. Mummy puts Shanna down on the cot on her tummy
2. Mummy starts patting Shanna
3. Shanna looks around, puts her face down on the bed. No crying.
4. 5 minutes later, Mummy stops patting
5. Shanna's eyes are still open, but getting into sleep mode
6. Mummy leaves the room
7. Returns to the room 10 minutes later, Shanna is asleep

Recently, Shanna has been making a lot of fuss during her day/evening nap times at home (no fuss at babysitter's, and no fuss at bedtime!?). We tried various sleeping locations (in her cot, on our bed, on the mattress in the living room), same results. We suspect she has too much fun at home and doesn't want to nap. Wish we can look into her mind and find out what she is thinking!

My Diary

For the past 2 evenings i have been playful to the stage that i refused to take any nap after coming home from babysitter's place. Daddy was having tough time in putting me to sleep during evening. I was crying n crying n turning all around the mattress. But when daddy turn me around, i will smile at him and showed him my innocent look with my eyes. I listened attentively to daddy when he told me to calm down and sweet talk me to sleep, but i changed my mind when he turned me and tried to put me to zzz again...

then yesterday, i took the second dose of Rota-Virus' vaccine in the afternoon. When evening time, mummy and daddy was told by babysitter that my ear became swollen reddish and also my face very itchy. So after 2 fail attempt from daddy to put me to rest in the evening, we went back to see the doctor at Pantai. I was happy the whole time, got to see alot of pictures around me, tough i was sleepy at that moment, but i was happy also to see colorful pictures at the clinic. So after doctor checked me, everything was all right ... then i heard mummy asking doctor about something... something like "is it ok to let baby cry out loud?" and the doctor said "it's ok, shouldnt be any problem"... mhmmm... i wonder why mummy asked that....

anyway, daddy was surprised with the medical bill that was charged that night...

then we went back home, took some medicine and zzz until this morning...

Happy Four Months Old, Shanna!

On Sunday, I officially turned 4 months old! Big girl di :)

On Friday, when Daddy & Mummy came to pick me up at Aunty Por Por's house after work, they got a surprise! I was all dressed up in a new pink dress looking pretty-pretty. Aunty Por Por bought it specially for my 4th month 'birthday'. I like the dress, it has white ribbons in front that I like to put into my mouth.

My pink dress, present from Aunty Por Por

On Sunday, Mummy dressed me up in a new outfit to go to church. I was tired when we were about to go to church, so Daddy let me sleep for about 20mins before Mummy carried me out the door, I was wide awake after that. We then fetched Andrew Kau Fu and his friend from USM to bring them to church. We went to EPCC this week as it is where Kau Fu & friend plan to attend.

Pretty or not?

Daddy and me. I love Daddy!

I saw lots and lots of other babies like me in EPCC. The church is full of babies... and young people like Kau Fu. I was tired and fell asleep after my milk. Daddy & Mummy didn't bring down the stroller, so I slept in Mummy's arms until she couldn't bear the weight and transferred me to Daddy, then I woke up. I also poo'ed twice throughout the service. Mummy changed me in the nursery. Yes, they have a nursery too, but like PCC, babies can't possibly sleep in the nursery where the toddlers are having their fun and games.

In the evening, I had lots of fun going for my walk and playing with Daddy and Mummy. We had a family photo session too in the bedroom, where I drooled all over the bed and also wee-wee'ed, even though Mummy had potty'ed me before that (just drank a lot of milk mah Mummy).
Mummy said to let Daddy post the pictures later.

What I do most often nowadays:
1. Putting my fingers into my mouth... putting anything I can get my hands on into my mouth. I explore with my mouth.
2. Play around when having my milk i.e. pushing the bottle with my hands.
3. Rotating, usually in anti-clockwise direction when on my tummy.
4. Staring at my feet & colorful socks

My bedtime is now at 9pm+. Mummy feeds me at ~12.30am and I sleep 7-8 hour stretch until morning before waking up to feed again. After that, playtime! :)
