Graduation From Toothlessness

Yes, my first tooth is emerging. It's the bottom-left-front tooth.

I've been exploring my new tooth with my tongue and also clamping my lower gums against my upper gums.

Mummy is glad that I'm 'graduating' to having teeth, but she thinks she will also miss my toothless grins.

And this:

Don't worry, Mummy, I'm still looongg ways off from having a whole mouthful of teeth!

A Prophecy?

This conversation took place when Tim and I went to pick Shanna up from the babysitter's place, which happens to be the apartment unit 1 floor below the unit I rented a few years back, in the same apartment block.

Tim: Say, wonder if your old housemate Ai Ling still stays here?

Audrey: I think so, haven't heard of her moving out.

Tim: Strange that we have been coming here for 6 months every week day and haven't met her yet.

Audrey: Yalor...

Tim: Usually hor, life's like that, when we have just mentioned not seeing someone, they appear before you...

Audrey (waiting at the elevator): Let's see who comes out from the lift...

Audrey (doors open): Eh, no Ai Ling ler. Where's Ai Ling (teasing Tim)?

We pick up Shanna, go back down to the parking lot, on the way to the car.....

From the corner of her eye, Audrey spots someone familiar walking slightly behind them... GUESS WHO?

Yes, it WAS Ai Ling!!

Audrey: Whoa... who were we talking about just now?? She's over there!

Tim smirks.

I Was Happy, Then I Cried

Let me tell you about yesterday. I had just finished my cereal at Aunty Por Por's house when I saw my Daddy coming to bring me out gai-gai! We went to a place where everyone had their faces covered up (Mummy tells me those are masks).

One lady measured my head and told Daddy my weight was 7.1kg on the scale. Then I met Doctor Chan, I showed my excitement by kicking and smiling all the way. I was put down on the bed, and saw 3 faces looking at me - Daddy, Mummy and Doctor.

Then... Doctor pricked my thigh! That hurt so much that I cried immediately. After that, something sweet was dripped into my mouth and I stopped crying so I could taste it. Soon, we were outside waiting for Daddy and then I found myself back in Aunty Por Por's house.

Daddy says my Kiddy Club membership at Pantai Hospital is really worth it. The bill for cosultation and my Rotavirus & Pneumoccal vaccinations cost RM390+ after 10% discount.

Mummy finds what her boss said about Doctor Chan to be true... he's an expert at giving injections! No trace of the injection was found on my skin.

This morning, Mummy and Daddy found that I had a very mild fever ~37.2degC. However, I was happy-happy as usual and finished my 6.5oz milk milk. Only when Mummy tried to give me medicine for the fever, I did not like it and spit it out while pushing away her hand.

Tomorrow, Grandpa, Grandma & Ah Yi are coming to visit me! Yay!

What I did Last Weekend

1. Posed for photos

2. Cried when put down for naps (slept immediately when Mummy picked me up)... D&M are scratching their heads wondering why, since I don't cry when napping anymore (before this weekend).

3. Went to church and played with all the uncles and aunties I met.

We Made It Through

Last Tuesday, I went for my first overseas business trip since Shanna arrived. To make a long story short:

Shanna
Was in Daddy Tim's good hands for 1 whole evening, night and morning. She ate, took her nap, stayed clean, slept through the night. She was very well taken care of :)

Tim
In his words 'survived' his first night taking care of Shanna alone, and thoroughly enjoyed the father-daughter bonding time :)

The next morning, he got himself and Shanna ready and arrived to office on time. Way to go, Daddy!

On the day I traveled, he also had a major technical presentation. Guess who won the Best Technical Presenter award? :D

Audrey
My colleagues and I wore face masks in the airplane. But the situation in Singapore is as if H1N1 is not a big deal... shopping malls were crowded as usual, families with babies were everywhere and nobody wore masks. Anyway, just in case, the first thing I did after getting home was to take a shower to 'cleanse' myself of all the germs/viruses.

The major challenge was managing the schedule for expressing milk versus traveling and meetings. The lack of facilities in Intel Singapore didn't help either. I had to use a common meeting room (with a transparent narrow pane in the door where people outside can peek in) for pumping and the pantry fridge to store milk. While traveling, I checked-in my pump and milk according to my colleague's advice... who had the experience of being suspected of carrying a gun & trying to bring bio-chemical weapon on board the airplane when she hand-carried her pump and milk.

Needless to say, I missed Shanna a lot... :) hubby too la.

Wow, 6 months Old Already! (Updated)

Time flies, Shanna has been with us in this world for half a year already!

Shanna marked her 6th month birthday last Saturday by:
1. Getting a haircut.
Shanna's hair needed a trim it so it doesn't get into her eyes. The haircut was done in a matter of seconds, just 2 snips :P I was very cautious of holding the scissors so close to her face.

2. Refusing to finish her milk
We suspect she is teething, as she drools even more now, and keeps biting her fingers and anything she can get her hands on. She did not finish her milk from her bottle most of the feeds throughout the day. But when we used the syringe to feed her, she drank up all the milk.

3. Shouting
Shanna spent a lot of time shouting very loudly last weekend. She has an Excited-Happy Shout, Impatient Shout, I Want to be Picked Up Shout, A Not Happy Shout/Cry

4. Able to 'crawl' backwards aka 'kostan', flip from back to tummy.

5. Moved to sleep in her own room
In her new environment, Shanna spent a little time looking around at her surroundings before going to sleep on her own. She slept well through the night without waking up, according to her Daddy who was in the room with her.

6. Babysitter has been teaching Shanna to count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 with her fingers. Now when we tell Shanna in Mandarin 'yi, er, san, si, wu ' she will start to make movements with her fingers... very cute :)

Her Daddy will share her pictures taken last weekend later :)
