Shanna

Baby Shanna is very 'active' in her sleep. Here's how she ended up an hour after I put her to sleep horizontal on the bed. (Sorry, it's a little dark)

Another pic of her rotating on the bed in her sleep

Baby Shanna has a cute habit. Before dozing off, she will smile and laugh.

Finally dozed off...

Baby Shanna has not been her normal self for the past few days.

She did not sleep much during the day and has problems going into deep sleep. She gets cranky wanting to sleep and starts hunting for Mummy's 'pacifier'. I would spend an hour trying to put her to sleep with the Anakku/Avent pacifiers. This whole hour she would hardly close her eyes tight and she'd wake up whenever I put her down on the bed. When finally she settles to sleep, it's a light one. She wakes up at the slightest noise and usually that's 15-30mins later. Yesterday she slept 3 times during the day - 45 mins, 30mins and 20 mins. Maybe she is not feeling secure as I'm training her to go on bottle during the day.
Today, there is some improvement in the afternoon. She finally took a 3 hour nap. Hoepfully she's adjusted.

Baby

Shanna's hair is standing up more and more... like porcupine's :)

Been very busy lately... trying to train baby to sleep on the bed versus being carried or suckling. Not very successful so far. Whenever she is around me, she will hunt for her favourite 'pacifier' before going to sleep... and cries VERY loudly if she doesn't get it. Well... hopefully I will be able to train her up soon.

Sometimes....

Sometime she'll wake up in the middle of the night and requesting us to carry her....

Sometime she'll wake up at 7am just to be cuddled by her daddy ... then zzz back...

Sometime she'll wake up not showing any sign of hunger then suddenly cry her lungs out ...

Sometime she'll be so quite and suddenly pooh-pooh or wee-wee....

Sometime she'll be cranky coz not enough food n zzz....

Sometime she'll be so satisfied and dont even want to wake up from her dreamland...

SOmeTime she'll smile by herself...

SomETiMe she'll laugh by herself...

sOmeTimE she'll want to be carried around exploring the world around her...

sOMEtime she'll like to sleep at her bouncing net looking at the red bear bear...

soMETIMe she'll like to look at her colourful bolster...

somETimE she'll like to play with her new toy...

BB's Full Moon

It has been a month since i came to the world :D

there are soo many things that i have learned within this month... i know how to cry, how to smile by my self, how to pooh-pooh, how to wee-wee especially after my diaper change... talking about right timing... :D

Here are some of the photos taken last saturday (4th Apr) marking my full moon celebration...

daddy bought me a small choc cake... at first... but the next day he bought another bigger one for me... coz daddy forgot that it'll be another 11 more months before they can celebrate 1 year old birthday for me... until this morning, the cake still in one piece.... mummy still havent have the time to cut it or eat it...

I'm growing everyday healthily because God bless me with good health and mummy always take a good care of me, bath me at the right time (tough sometime i cried my lungs out when i touch water), feed me when i'm awake eventhough it's 3am in the morning, change my diapers when i'm not feeling comfortable, mummy also taking good care of herself, tough most of the time she didnt get enough rest for that day... thank you mummy.... n daddy also... buying the fresh market stuff for mummy :D

My face ... change alot huh?

Latest pictures of Shanna's antics

Another picture of Shanna's fav expression

Shanna likes putting everything into her mouth now. Daddy putting her to sleep.

Oops... bolster fell on her head. She continues sleeping :)

Shanna: " I am super (sleepy) girl"

Something under my head? Who put it there??

Yeah, it's the lost mitten under Shanna's head. Mummy can't figure how it got there.

Shanna is learning fast. Her cries are getting louder and more fierce now... she can't wait! Whether it is for her milk or for someone to pick her up.
Next week is Hep B 2nd jab!

Confinement over!

4 Thursdays ago, I was in the hospital and Shanna was born. She is now 1 month old. More pictures of her later.

In some ways, time really flies. It seemed just a short while ago that I was awaiting Shanna's arrival and now it's already a month we've had her.

In other ways, this past month sort of crawled by. I was counting down the days of confinement hoping for some of the discomforts to end... Tim and I also can't really recall clearly how we spent our time before Shanna came. In that sense it seems like a long while.

Confinement highlight/lowlights:
- I had great appetite, after 9 months of not enjoying eating this was a relief. But.. sometimes I hardly had time to eat.

- I perspired A LOT. Never before in my life I've sweated this much. Must be the post pregnancy body conditions plus the heaty food to drive out wind.

- I found that I could operate on maximum 3 hours stretches of sleep.

- As I mentioned before, most stressful experience of confinement for me was learning/establishing breastfeeding. And yes, I was pretty stressed out alot of the time especially at the 1st couple of weeks.

- I was in some ways really confined during confinement period, did not go anywhere except to the hospital. This was not imposed by anyone but taking care of baby and myself took up all my time.

- After more than 10 years of eating outside food, Tim and I got to enjoy our moms' home cooking for the past month :)

Review of Urut (Massage) Sessions

At first I did not plan to get urut done as I'm not a fan of massages, I find it more painful than relaxing. However, after many convincing reports from friends who'd done it, finally I decided to try it out based on comments that it is very effective for getting rid of wind and improving overall blood circulation.

At the first session of urut, the urut lady massaged my abdomen horoughly. As she massaged, I could hear the air bubbles go 'bulp bulp' in my stomach. "You banyak angin" she said. I was given a herbal concoction, limau something. It cleared my bowels thoroughly and helped to pass out the wind (went to toilet more than 5 times).

After the first session, my abdomen muscles were all sore. The next day at the 2nd session, the lady massaged my arms and legs and back. She did the abdomen again and I complained it was painful :P I didn't do the Ikat as I was afraid I would be too tired to make it worth it. But if those who wanted to Ikat, normally the urut lady would do it at this 2nd session.

The 3rd day, she massaged my whole body again and applied 'tukun', heated metal wrapped in herbs for helping the uterus to contract. She massaged my head too.

Each session was RM45 and lasted for about 1 hr +. Some people take up to 10 sessions. For me, 3 was enough 'torture' :P. However, I think I will do the Ikat later on after confinement. In her words, "kalau ikat, jadi macam coca-cola" :D What things women go through to look good!
