Review of Urut (Massage) Sessions

At first I did not plan to get urut done as I'm not a fan of massages, I find it more painful than relaxing. However, after many convincing reports from friends who'd done it, finally I decided to try it out based on comments that it is very effective for getting rid of wind and improving overall blood circulation.

At the first session of urut, the urut lady massaged my abdomen horoughly. As she massaged, I could hear the air bubbles go 'bulp bulp' in my stomach. "You banyak angin" she said. I was given a herbal concoction, limau something. It cleared my bowels thoroughly and helped to pass out the wind (went to toilet more than 5 times).

After the first session, my abdomen muscles were all sore. The next day at the 2nd session, the lady massaged my arms and legs and back. She did the abdomen again and I complained it was painful :P I didn't do the Ikat as I was afraid I would be too tired to make it worth it. But if those who wanted to Ikat, normally the urut lady would do it at this 2nd session.

The 3rd day, she massaged my whole body again and applied 'tukun', heated metal wrapped in herbs for helping the uterus to contract. She massaged my head too.

Each session was RM45 and lasted for about 1 hr +. Some people take up to 10 sessions. For me, 3 was enough 'torture' :P. However, I think I will do the Ikat later on after confinement. In her words, "kalau ikat, jadi macam coca-cola" :D What things women go through to look good!
