1. Ian is already 5 months old! He is 7.3kg and eats 6oz every 3 hours during day. He started flipping his body around 4.5 months. His latest trick now is trying to flip in the car seat. Unlike Shanna who needed us to turn her around after she inadvertantly flipped during sleep in the night, Ian did not have any problem, he still sleeps well.
2. I went on my first business trip since Ian was born. 8 days away in the land of stars and stripes and shopping. Thanks to mum in law who came to Penang to help out Tim when I was away. It was a stressful trip at all fronts (work, various other travel related issues, pumping milk while on the go), plus with all the exercise I got doing shopping, I lost another 1kg in that week :) I'm sure the weight loss was also contributed by me lugging back a new car seat to replace the one Ian is outgrowing, now to figure out how to fit 2 car seats into our compact car.....
3. Our first trip back to KL (a month ago) also marked the first time all 4 of us sleping together in one room. Shanna was very considerate of her little brother and was very quite and careful not to disturb Ian when Ian was asleep. However, Shanna's sleep was sometimes disrupted when Ian woke up crying as she is a very light sleeper. I don't know how other families can manage with this arrangement, I guess it takes getting use to.
4. I am still breastfeeding exclusively. The pros for me: losing weight fast (6 kg lower than pre-pregnant weight), clear skin, healthy baby. The cons? Sacrifice of time (~2-3 hours per day), inconvenience, tiredness. Still, as God gives me ability to feed Ian, I will continue to do so :)
5. Drastic post-partum hair loss, I see my hair dropping everywhere. Worried about getting bald patches :( Should I take some evening primrose oil supplement? Any tips from the experienced mummys out there?
6. Celebrated my birthday and Mother's Day this year rather hurriedly :) The week before my brithday, we were really busy with work, and made an ad hoc trip back to KL. On my birthday, I had meetings from 8am, most of the day and in the evening until midnight. Still, hubby gave me a nice lunch treat. The day after Mother's Day, I flew off for my business trip.
7. Shanna's memory astounds us sometimes. Before going to visit Grace who just had a baby, I told her that we are going to visit Aunty Grace. She immediately thought of Aunty Grace from CG (whom she meets like only once in a couple of months). But I explained to her it's another Aunty Grace, 'the aunty who visited us when Ian was just born, remember she was pregnant with a baby?'. Shanna immediately said, 'That was when I was playing with play-doh, one woman came to our house in Pearl Garden'.
8. Shanna: "Those short friends who came to my birthday are not family" (referring to her Ah Mah's grandchildren). "Those tall friends in KL are my family".
Mummy: "Who are the tall friends"?
Shanna: "Paul Yem & Pat Yem and Adelene Yem" (Her grandparents! And her Ah Yi)
