This might not be the best place to share my thought on the Alto Sax (YAS 475) , but i'll still share it anyway :)
i'm glad that we bought this model from US' ebay and after some fixing after we'd gotten from Audrey's colleague from US, this second hand Alto Sax is working fine.
in total, this sax came in a price of around USD1K it might sound expensive until we compare the price in Malaysia, even for 2nd hand alto sax, it'll be pricing around rm6K. to me this is a bargain!
i prayed hard when buying this from ebay hoping to get the best deal with minimum risk. Guess what, God answered our prayer and it even comes with the high-grade mouthpiece (which i didnt know until recently. :P)
anyway, Alto Sax is a easy instrument to play but hard to master. I'm comparing it to the Bb Clarinet that I have since my uni days. for the clarinet, it took me 10 years to love it, but this alto Sax, it only took me 1 days to love it.
Normally i don't really practice and play music everyday, even during my music school days. but now, with this alto sax, i do practice it nearly everyday while Audrey is helping to take care of Shanna.
I'm glad that my little princess shows her interest in this instrument right now, even though she got scared and run away after the first note i made on this alto sax. :P
praying hard that both my little princess n prince will love music in the later days. At least i can jam with them at home (can ah audrey?)
in summary, alto sax is a great instrument and it's really easy to pick up. one more thing is, since this instrument is designed in such a way that it need to be transpose, it's helping the musicians to think fast and use their brain more. :D
:)
