Since I'm already 2.5 years old and can hold a tang lung (lantern), Daddy & Mummy bought me my first tang lung. They went traditional and got the candle type. Well, my Ah Mah (babysitter) decided to get me a tang lung too, a battery-operated Mickey+Minnie mouse one.
Initially, I wasn't sure how to enjoy playing with the tang lung's. Until D&M brought me to our CG's Tang Lung gathering. There I had a blast running around the whole night long with other kids (all older than me, though Myra & Shannel jie jie were older only by a few months). My little legs could keep up alright, just that I'm a bit short so sometimes the other kids bumped into me when they couldn't see me.
While I carried my tang lung together with other gor gor jie jie, I learnt about
1. blowing out the candle in the tang lung and asking the adults to light them up again and again
2. dropping dead leaves, flowers, etc into the tang lung
Too bad I personally did not get to try the two fun activities as above. My D&M told me not to *sigh.
Despite me being so obedient, my tang lung nearly got burnt up.... by my Daddy. Daddy said he forgot that lighting up the candle at a certain angle could get my fish lantern burnt. Mummy said it's alright, most people burn up their lanterns anyway.
On the actual Mid-Autumn Festival evening, I got to walk around with my tang lung again. Surprisingly, I was the only kid around, perhaps I was too early. Other big kids don't go out until 8/9pm, by then I was in bed.
I had a fun Mid-Autumn, did you? Happy Mid-Autumn Festival everyone!
