CNY in Penang

Shanna and I were going to stay home together on the 8th day of CNY because her babysitter was still on vacation. I planned to work from home too as I had lots of work to catch up on after being out for 1.5 weeks. However, when we found out there was to be an electricity outage in our apartment due to maintenance by TNB, I decided to bring Shanna to the mall after her lunch, hoping that she will nap in the stroller while I get some work done at Starbucks. Sometimes, things just don't work out as they should. It took me a while to get Shanna to sleep. She slept for half an hour only. I barely got any work done. The 'best' thing was that TNB did not turn up for the maintenance, so all the hassle was for naught.

But, overall it was a good time spent together. My little girl was such a darling at the bookstore. Some kid kept running up to her and giving her books, to which she on her own accord kept responding 'ta' (her version of thank you) each time she got a book.

The 9th day of Chinese New Year is a very important day for many Taoists. That means major fireworks here in Penang. This went on near our apartment for 20 minutes.

A special event at the beginning of this new lunar year was the baptism of Elsie, our CG member and Tim's colleague. In honor of that event which was held on a Saturday night service, for the first time in 2 years, we brought Shanna to Saturday night church service instead of Sunday morning.

Here's a picture of the gang.

Our little family went out for dinner one evening to have a little CNY dinner cum Valentine's dinner. We went to our favourite fish steamboat place which happens to be so near our house.

Posing at the entrance of the Setia Pearl Island clubhouse - Shanna the Bunny lookalike :)
We overheard a family say "How come the mandarin oranges below the bunny gets fewer each time we come? "

Without much ado, up to the restaurant.

Our family pic for this year's CNY.

What's that on Shanna's hair? Shanna said 'Bar'

As I write this today on Chap Goh Me, firecrackers are going off outside marking the last day of CNY. Another CNY, another year passing. Another few more weeks and our little girl turns 2... How fast time flies!

Thanks, Ida! We had multiple shots of her looking bunny-like... which shows how long she was biting her lower lip!
Hi Vivien, thanks! Since I don't get to wear dresses often, I maximised the opportunity during CNY :) I think I could lose some weight btw...
