Christmas 2012

Christmas 2012 whizzed by. It was a very special Christmas indeed (though Christmas 2011 is tough to beat).

Our little guy, Ian, turned 1 Year Old!!! Family came to visit, we met up with friends, Shanna learnt to sing carols. And for the kids, presents galore! Shanna really enjoyed the Christmas Cantata at PCC too.

Adelene Ah Yi was around for a week, we all enjoyed her company, and she was very helpful when we had to stay home (unexpectedly) and deal with plans gone awry with the unfortunate events of our babysitter falling sick and being hospitalized.

Though there were many reasons to celebrate this Christmas, we are most grateful for God's love shown to us through Jesus being born. This year, Shanna learnt about the meaning of Christmas through Truth In The Tinsel. Besides getting to know about Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, Zechariah, John, the angel Gabriel. She also learnt about Jesus being the light of the world, and of our hearts. Shanna made many ornaments for the tree based on Truth In The Tinsel with Mummy's help. She can cut shapes and stick stuff really well.

Our CG had a Christmas party too. There were many home cooked yummilicious foods, as well as turkey and ham.

Hello everyone! Wow, has it been a month since our last post? Sorry for the radio silence. Time flies! Well, it's time to share some pictures of what we have been up to.

Our little boy, now a mere 11 days away from turning 1 year old *disbelief*

We went to the fun fair twice, our Shanna enjoyed it very much. The 2nd time going was a reward for her for being fully independent at school, going in to wash hands with teacher, going to toilet at school (overcoming her initial resistance).

Babies have exceptional skills at crossing their legs, while sleeping, while sitting, even while in the baby carrier. Ian is no exception.

Getting the Christmas tree up generated a lot of excitement in our house. Shanna could still remember all the ornaments we had from last year, she likes our tree that much! Ian had a field day...

With the tree up, it is also time to get the presents wrapped. First, a present for the little boy who will be celebrating his first birthday and first Christmas! Present from Shanna jie jie.

No pictures here, but our tree is not dressed up at the bottom layers. It's a win-win situation, where Ian can get near to the tree and touch it whenever he likes, while the ornaments stay on the tree :)

Thanks to our friend Joy's introduction, I'm doing Truth In The Tinsel with Shanna to introduce her to the meaning of Christmas. More of that on another (hopefully-soon-coming) post.

Birthday Boy

Between sending/picking up the elder child to/from school, sending the younger one for doctor check up for chicken pox treatment, & Mummy breaking up in hives (unknown reason), on a work day, we squeezed in time for a nice lunch for the birthday boy.

Supposedly my treat to the birthday boy. But it was technically it was more of him treating us, as the bulk of the meal payment was done with vouchers he 'earned' from work.

The cake was chosen by our little princess for her Daddy.

Right after the cake cutting and candle-blowing, Shanna pronounced "Daddy, your birthday is over. Ian's birthday is coming soon."

Spots Transfer

After 2 weeks from the 1st day Shanna's chicken spots showed up, it was Ian's turn to be the spotty one aka little leopard.

One day before his spots surfaced, he got rashes all over his body. Then the chicken pox came, and then came some tiny red dots all over his palms and feet. We didn't know what those were. So we brought him to the paed.

When Shanna had chicken pox, we just brought her to the GP near our house to get a 'confirmation' diagnosis.

What a difference between paed and GP. Not saying one or the other is better, but just for other parents' info:
GP - Diagnosed chicken pox, gave Calamine lotion & antihistamine (polaramine). Bye bye.
Paed - Diagnosed chicken pox, shared pros and cons of the antibiotic medication, asked if we wanted it, gave antibiotic cream for severe lesions, even gave us a choice of antihistamins (pirition vs zyrtec). Oh yes of course the Calamine lotion too.

I do, however wish we had the antibiotic cream for Shanna to help with the lesions she got on her skin which were more severe than Ian due to her scratching.

Of course, the paed cost more than GP. But here in Penang, most MNCs' medical insurance covers both, so it's no wonder the queues to the paeds are so long. And this is the exact reason why we opt for GP at times.

Ian's has fully recovered and we are very relieved that both kids have Roseala & chicken pox behind them now!

This is the reason why. But now that Ian can stand up, it is no longer a fool-proof method.

Baby Dedication October 6 2012

Since Ian was born, it has been our desire to dedicate him to God. We have been waiting eagerly for PCC to hold a baby dedication ceremony. Baby dedication is where as parents, we give our child back to God and commit to bring him up in the ways of the Lord. Shanna was 2 months old when she was dedicated.

Finally, a baby dedication service was scheduled. Thank God that in between chicken pox episodes, we made it to the service.

Our cell group leader Bro Yoon Weng purposely came to the service to pray alongside us.

Here is our prayer:
"Lord we, Timothy & Audrey Lee bring our child before You. We both sincerely dedicate this precious child to You. You have given this child to us. Now we give this child back to You. Lord, we write such such assingments on Your scroll for Ian so that Ian may grow to know You and to love You. Give us Your wisdom to guide Ian in all Your ways. May Ian glorify Your name in all the days of his life. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen."

Our beloved Ian,
We thank God for you, you and Shanna are our greatest blessing from God. Our greatest hope and constant prayer is that you will grow and know the grace of God and walk in all His ways. We know you will make us proud in whatever you do, as you let your faith and character make a difference. We love you.

Our Little Leopard

Hi everyone,

My Daddy & Mummy didn't manage to bring me for vaccination before I started school, so here I am with chicken pox. I started having fever (up to 38.5dC) early one Wednesday morning, and by evening, there were spots all over my body. It then spread to my arms, legs, face, head, ears... I even got a little pox on my lips, but that one healed fast. Those on my head caused me pain when my hair is combed.

Of course it itched a lot, but Mummy told me not to scratch if I didn't want any scabs or scars on my skin. I can't help it sometimes, so I start to 'scratch', but when Mummy gives me a look, I say "I didn't scratch, just tap-tap only". I have been good at not scratching much during day, but when I'm asleep I can't help scratching. There were mornings when I woke up with dried blood under my fingernails and my face/clothes a mess :(

I call myself a leopard, because the in my picture book, the leopard has spots just like me.

Thank God that I am recovering well. Now Daddy and Mummy says I have to go back to school soon, but I don't want to...

We are also keeping a close lookout on Ian. We hope he will be alright and not get the chicken pox.

So, last weekend was my first outing in awhile. Daddy and Mummy had a Groupon voucher to use at Bella Marina at Straits Quay, so there we went, together with my Kau Fu. I have only been to Straits Quay once before, but when Mummy told me that is where we are going, I squealed in excitement! I remember the boats and yatchs and how fun it was the last time I went.


We had a yummy lunch and dessert. We took some pictures, can you see the remainings of my calamine-covered spots?
