And for the first time in her life, Shanna spent a night away from both of us at her babysitter's house.
This was a practise run, in case little baby decides to come out in the evening or in the middle of the night.
Tim & I took advantage of our free evening to head out to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary (1 week earlier) with a nice, cozy dinner at The View. The last time we had dinner (not counting lunches) at the View was around 3 years ago, when I was 7 months pregnant with Shanna. It was deja vu as we were repeating the cycle with me 8 months pregnant with our number 2, and we even ordered the same main courses for dinner. But then again, we always order lamb & cod at The View :)

This is revision 2008
See any difference? :)
We enjoyed our dinner & conversation, but couldn't help keeping our ears peeled on the phone, half expecting a call from the babysitter to tell us Shanna wants to go home. No calls came, and after dinner we went home and spent the remaining part of our evening online browsing through Black Friday sales :P
It was a strange feeling not to have Shanna with us at home, as her Daddy said as we went to bed, "It just doesn't feel right that Shanna is not here with us in her bed in the room next door". Obviously we were missing our little girl. How is it that such a little person can have such a big space in our lives? Guess this is part of parenthood.
The next morning, we had a happy 'reunion' with Shanna. She was her happy & chatty self. Looking at her, one would not be able to tell, that according to the babysitter, she had not slept well the whole night, not being used to spending the night with babysitter. We were proud that she did not make any fuss and was good.
Since that was 3 weeks ago, I have to update that we sent Shanna for a 2nd practise run last week. This time, she knew enough to say that she was sad to see us leave while she had to stay the night, she even cried a little but cheered up when babysitter promised to bring her to the mall. This time, she slept better through the night too. Guess practise makes perfect :)
