Sounds Familiar...
When reading one evening with Shanna, we came across this picture. Just in case it's not clear, it is a picture of penguin parents hovering over their newly-hatched chick.
My version when story-telling to Shanna went like this -
Mummy: "Look, Shanna, baby penguin just came out from the egg. Mummy & Daddy penguin are so happy!"
Shanna, however, intepreted it differently. This is her version of how the story went -
Shanna: "Mummy penguin said (in a severe tone of voice), WHY did you come out from the egg?? Now the egg is broken!"
While I found it funny, it also made me wonder... do I sound like that when I talk to my little girl? Where else would she have learnt to talk in that way? Anyway, it was a good reminder to watch what I say and how I say it, with sharp little ears around.
