Shanna just turned 13 months old this week. My little baby is growing up fast.
She keeps surprising us with her knowledge and understanding of what we say. Just this morning, as we were leaving the house, she pointed to the fan and babbled to me (in baby language that only mummies and daddies understand) that I needed to turn it off. When I asked her how can I turn off the fan, she turned and pointed to the switch on the wall.
Well, the morning started fine, then when Tim and I went to pick her up at the babysitter's during lunch hour to bring her to her paed's appointment, we were informed by the babysitter that Shanna had not been her normal self the whole morning, she kept crying and wanting to be carried. They had never seen her like that. Me neither, so I was puzzled.
During the whole time out with us she was fine so I thought maybe it was just some discomfort and it had passed. We brought her to take the last pneumococcal jab. It's going to be the last jab for her for awhile, until she's 18 months I think, bless her. Well, she cried when the needle went in, and recovered quickly to wave bye bye and give her doctor a flying kiss.
Her weight is 9kg, doc said it's just nice for her age.
She had a 2 hr 45 mins nap after that and babysitter said no fever. After we brought her home, she started acting needy and crying again. Wasn't even interested in walking around. Never seen her like that.
Could it be the mosquito bite near her eye? But she wasn't scratching it much. Could it be the injection? Maybe, but this behavior started before she got the injection. Fever check? Thermometer showed that I had a higher temperature than her. I asked her to show me where's the pain? She pat her tummy, but then she ate really well the whole day. The last thing I can charge it to - teething? Poor girl was tired out with all the fussing and fell asleep immediately when I put her to bed at 7.45pm.
Hope she'll be all well and back to her normal self tomorrow. I will stay home to monitor her in the morning. Maybe I'll learn tomorrow the reason for her behavior. Parenthood... an ongoing learning process.
