House Cleaning

Most people house clean before Chinese New Year. For us, we never really practiced this tradition, actually we never really had a very thorough house cleaning effort since we moved into our apartment 3 years ago :P

This year, with baby on the way, my nesting instinct kicked in and I wanted to get the house spick and span and in order ASAP. So since December last year, we have been gradually cleaning out cupboards, shelves and fixing things that needed fixing (thank God for a husband that is very good at this!).

We decided to get hired help for some of the 'major' cleaning needed. A friend recommended her maid agency which provides maids for cleaning at hourly basis. So we got a maid to come for 7 hours for RM55.

She arrived before 8am looking very tidy and clean. During the 7 hours, she cleaned all the grills and windows in our apartment thoroughly; she also cleaned all the kitchen cabinets, all the cupboard tops in the house and a fan. Tim and I were very worried about her safety when she cleaned the windows, as she liked to climb outside. A slight mis-step and she would be going 9 floors down, the express way... :

We were quite satisfied with her help. By the time she left our house, all her clothes were dirty. Our house really needed this cleaning :P

Frankly, we felt a little sorry for the tough life these maids live. After our house, she was supposed to go to another cleaning assignment. For lunch, she only took a 10 minute break and ate on the floor though I asked her to use the table. The 100 Plus I gave her she did not drink at all but brought it back. And she declined all my offers of water... she didn't drink anything for 7 hours! :(

Tim and I worked along with the maid and after a tiring day, the house is now more or less in order :)
