Our trip to LangKawi Oct 08

Langkawi is actually a very nice place to relax and really relax. We actually did our round the island trip and guess what, it's only took us less then half a day to tour the island plus stopping by some of the places of insterest.

We went to Langkawi nearly 2 years ago and our camera chosed to breakdown during that period and we dont have any picture then and this round, we brought both camera there as to make up what we have loss last round. :P

Some of the places has developed and more people visiting that area compare to what we saw last round. Places such as Kuah town, Pantai Chenang, Pantai Kok and Oriental village. We are glad to see more people visiting the place and you know the calculation, more people = more money spend = more developement. :) Good for the people there also.

We still see cows and buffalos along the roads in Langkawi, and we were warned by the taukeh at a malay stall to becareful and on the look out for cows and buffalo while driving at night. (Pop-quiz: How do you differentiate the cow from the buffalo in Malaysia? Answer as below)

Here are some of the photos that we have taken during the trip:

Missed our flight !!! Argh!!!

We missed our flight back to Penang on the last day of our stay. First time in our record!

Well... it's all started like this....

In the morning, after we check out early to hunt for food at Pantai Kok, we got in our rented car and drove off the hotel without seeing any sign of battery weakening. So, it was a 1/2 hour drive to Pantai Kok for our Roti breakfast. Then we had a nice Roti (actually i miss their Nan, but they never sell it anymore :( ) and when we got into the car, the center locking system is working and once I tried to turn on the ignition, the battery went flat... kaput... gone... argh!!!! Ok then... i manage to ask the waiter in the mamak stall to help to push the car so that we can jump start the car (This is how it should work, put the gear to second gear position without releasign the clutch, then move the car as fast as it could n release the clutch... n walla.... it suppose to work.... ) but we tried twice without any success.

Then we called the rental company and told them that our car kaput n both of us need to rush to the airport. After many attempt to get them FINALLY some one answer (I really wonder what time they start doing business... it's worst the penang stalls... :P ) after explaing to them what's going on we were assured that they are sending a technician to help us ASAP. Well... we waited patiently (thank God that it was a good day with nice weather) in the car. After 30mins still no one turn up, so Audrey called them again and guess what... the technician that suppose to come for rescue met with an accident! At first we thought that it's just a "Reason" they give (asian style. either accident of traffic jam) for not being punctual. Oh well... we took the reason as it is ..., then we wait for another hero to come for our rescue. We wanted to call for a cab and we realize that taxi is quite rare at that corner of the island....

At that time, we were 15 mins from 10Am, and we called up Firefly office in Langkawi to see is there any chance we can change our flight without being charged. Nothing is free, we'll have to pay for it and further more, the flight for the next day was fully booked and no way for us to get another ticket back. Ok ... fine. So we waited until another technician came by and fetched us to the jetty. While we were on the way back, we found the first technician that met with accident and brought him to the hospital. Thank God that he's not bleeding and hopefully he is all right by now.

When we got to the jetty, the rental company paid for our ticket (60 per pax) to Penang and we didnt know that only 2 trips per day to Penang from Langkawi. So we'll have to kill out time at StartBuck while waiting for the ferry.

I was trying to order Cranberry juice and after paying the money, the supervisor said that they run out of stock on it,so she offered a replacement for my order which is pomegranate juice with an extra cup FOC!!! So I got 2 cups by paying just for one :D

Thank God that the weather was very good thru out the whole journey and no one sea sick. Audrey and the baby was in good condition as she manage to take some rest during the journey.

lesson learned:

1. always charge your HP when travelling

2. Get at least one cab number for any emergency

3. Check for weather before travelling

4. get a map

5. watch more Macgyver movie... maybe u can steal one or two trick of survival from there. :D

So blessed!

In another 20 weeks or less baby will meet the world! :) So dear hubby and me started visiting the baby section in departmental stores to scout the prices for baby essentials, so that we would know whether there are good deals when the next sale comes around :) Today, we made our 1st purchase of baby stuff at the Sunshine diwali sale - 3 tops, 3 bottoms and 3 sets of mittens & booties for newborn. We got white color and mostly neutrals that can be worn by a little girl/boy. They are so small and adorable!!

We are so humbled and truly, truly touched by the kindness and generosity of friends and relatives who have offered to give/lend many baby things to us. The list includes baby cot, bouncer, 'sarong' (both kinds: baby swinger & the kind for mummy to wear), a couple of strollers, car seat, Avent breast pump, Avent bottles, bottle sterilizer, bath tub, nursing pillow, pregnancy books, changing mat, baby clothes, bedsheets, free/discounted health food/supplements for mummy, etc. The only thing we can do to repay all these kindness is to bless others too! Thank God for His provision.

Comfy feet

Some people say health depends on having the right posture which is also contributed by wearing the right shoes.

Dear hubby was very mindful of this and his latest gift to me and baby's health - new comfy shoes... to support my increasing weight :)

Of course he did not forget nutrition too, after shoe-shopping, I got to have a bowl of pure chicken essence boiled by dear hubby - thank you, Tim :)

She's an active one

I walked-in to Dr Ng's last week for an out of cycle checkup due to rashes that had developed on my tummy. Surprisingly, the wait period was shorter than when I had made appointments hmm...

Dr said the rashes were an allergic reaction to the pregnancy and all I got was calamine lotion. So far it's not getting better yet, it itches like crazy! I really hope it will get better soon so I can go back to applying stretch mark cream (which the Dr said doesn't really help prevent stretch marks anyway) :S

Little baby was kicking and moving about during scan again, Dr said she's one very active baby :) This round the Dr scanned her brains, heart, and did measurements on her head, limbs, and the normal crown to rump.

Baby's vital stats:
Crown to rump: 14.34cm
Due date: Mar 6 09 (one week earlier than original date of Mar 13)

Mummy's vital stats:
Weight: 51.5kg (1kg increase since 2 weeks ago, Dr said not enough, should be 1.5kg, so guess I should continue to eat more)
Blood & urine test: All normal :)
Blood pressure: On the low side 84 54

I can feel the baby moving now, at first I thought it's just my stomach muscles twitching :P It's exciting (maybe later I'll say it's distracting hehe), right now it's just flutterings and occasional stronger kick here and there. Tim felt her one night when he was praying for her with his hand on my belly. He said she kicked him, but I think I was the one that got kicked, right? :D

Here's a picture of baby in her warm and comfy home, with her leg in position to kick :)

Baby's update

As of now, our baby is entering the 17th weeks and mummy sometime can feel her kicking inside the womb :D

We'll be going for another checkup soon and will see the baby again... while we are scratching our head to find the right name for our baby. :D
